Eco Label & Eco Teens
Two "eco" visiting days were recently organised at our school.
Jury Eco Label
On 3 October, the school had the pleasure of welcoming the Eco-School label jury, responsible for evaluating the first mandate of the label at EEB2 (2023-2025) and deciding whether to renew it. Representatives of the primary school staff — Simone Ferreira Silva for the Woluwe site and Cihad Mola for the Evere site — and the secondary school staff, including Koen Delahaye, head of the Eco Team, and, of course, the Green Team students, who participated in the presentation of the projects carried out during this first mandate as well as those to come. The jury members also had the opportunity to visit the school's pond, a protected natural area that promotes biodiversity and has been maintained for many years by Luc Van Cleemput, the biology lab technician. They also discovered the compost bins (the secondary school's worm compost and the primary school's garden compost) and the primary school's garden. The jury seemed impressed by the dynamism and commitment of our pupils. We are now eagerly awaiting the results!
Eco Teens
In April 2024, a dozen students from our secondary school Green Team took part in the Eco Teens meeting day. During this day, Green Teams from French-speaking secondary schools presented their work, exchanged ideas, participated in workshops and attended inspiring presentations. The students thoroughly enjoyed the day, which gave them the opportunity to meet other motivated pupils and realise how much they had accomplished in recent years.
This year, EEB2 is an official participant in the Eco Teens network, which brings together a dozen schools each year. This two-year programme provides support at school, personalised advice, assistance in carrying out a concrete project, and meetings for teachers and students.
On 15 October, we had the opportunity to welcome the Green Teams from three Brussels schools, accompanied by their teachers or parents: Collège Saint Michel, Fra Angelico and L'Autre Côté de l'école. A total of around fifty participants had the opportunity to exchange ideas, listen to a presentation by our Green Team and our guest, Léa Guitton from the Jane Goodall Foundation. They visited the school, the compost bins and the primary school vegetable garden, and benefited from the knowledge of Nicolas Duquenne and Luc Van Cleemput at our biodiversity pond site.
A podcast will soon be available online to capture these discussions.
Many thanks to the management for their support, to the APEEE for the delicious breakfast, and to all the participants for their motivation!
