Juvenes Translatores

Each year, our school brings together a team of five student translators from different language sections to take part in a special competition organised by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Translation.

This year, more than 700 schools from across the European Union participated in the competition. Students were able to translate texts from any of the official languages of the European Union. The translation process lasted two hours.

The evaluation panel selected one best translator from each participating country and also awarded several special distinctions for outstanding philological ability.

Our school community is very pleased and proud that our student Aušra Andrulytė (S7 LTA) received a special distinction. The jury commented on Aušra’s work as follows:

“Congratulations on your excellent competition translation. This work was not only precisely accurate, but also smooth, providing a pleasant reading experience. The translation revealed an ability to convey the mood and meaning of the original text without losing any nuances or subtleties. Thank you for participating in the Juvenes Translatores competition, and we wish you even more success in the future.”

All the prize winners of the competition were also given the opportunity to participate in various training sessions and seminars designed to help them gain deeper insight into the subtleties and professional practices of translators.

Congratulations to Aušra and thank you to Mrs Audrone Anuliene, Teacher at EEB2, for her support!
